100% New Zealand Merino
To swaddle a baby, is to wrap them in a piece of fabric to help them feel safe and secure. It is an ancient method of caring for a newborn child, where cotton muslin was the fabric of choice. Technological developments over the past decade of merino wool has allowed for a fabric with superior softness, strength and washability. The fabric is sourced from local sheep, with a beautiful softness and moderate stretch. This is important for swaddled babies as it allows for small movement, something that studies have shown are important for a baby's hips. The swaddle is also ideal for use as a light blanket in a stroller, or car seat and also as a comforter for a baby to take to bed. The versatile, neutral colours available (grey marle, grey + white stripe and cream) can be easier cleaned in a general washing machine and the large size allows for easy wrapping and tucking. Making this swaddle even more functional.
Why choose Merino?
Merino fabric is an incredibly versatile and functional fabric. The high country sheep that this wool comes from are able to withstand extreme weather changes. Hot or cold, this fabric is able to retain heat in cooler weather or wick moisture away to allow breathing in warmer climates. Perfect for babies, as they cannot regulate their own body temperatures. Not only breathable but super soft, the fineness of this fabric is incredibly obvious to the touch, feeling more like silk than wool. It will not rub or cause abrasion to a baby’s gentle skin.
Once you have felt this beautiful fabric you will want a large blanket for yourself!
